Buying an EV

This page will have more details coming soon, contact me at ev.eric.info@gmail.com in the meantime (20May2024)

Buying any vehicle should include many of these considerations but can be more important with an electrified vehicle to ensure we are happy with our purchase!

If you are making a choice to buy an electrified vehicle, you are probably trying to reduce your impact on our environment, which means thinking through these questions will likely enhance that reduction and improve the likelihood that you will enjoy your purchase!

Remember that, while most fully electrified vehicles talk about range, that is not the same as efficiency. A smaller optimized vehicle will go farther per kWh than a larger, or less optimized, vehicle even if they have the same range. This means higher cost and longer charging times for the same distances so make sure you look at range AND mpge.

How will my electrified vehicle be used?

Is this my only car?

Am I the only driver?

What are my other travel options?

How far do I drive most days? Weeks? Year?

How far and often are my special trips?

What are my charging options?

What do I need to carry in my electrified vehicle?

How many passengers do I regularly carry?

What other things do I need to carry?

What will I be able to pay for my electrified vehicle?

What is my budget?

What tax incentives am I eligible for?

What vehicles are eligible for those tax incentives?

If the costs seem high, what are my options?
